01 · The brief
A converted garage reimagined as a warm, feminine and inspiring home office, where the client could focus on growing her business, welcome her team and create content for social media.
Inspired by her love of travel, the brief was to capture the relaxed atmosphere of a coastal retreat without the traditional blue and white palette. Instead, soft corals, peaches, blush pinks and soft greens would evoke the warmth of a tropical sunset, creating a space that felt uplifting, contemporary and entirely her own.
The room also needed to work hard. Practical storage, multiple filming backdrops and a dedicated refreshment area were essential, alongside incorporating existing furniture with sentimental value.
02 · The challenge
To create a beautiful, multifunctional workspace that balanced the practical demands of running a business with the feeling of a personal retreat, while keeping the existing grey carpet, incorporating treasured furniture, and embracing bold florals without creating a space she might quickly tire of.
Approach
- A sunset-inspired palette of coral, peach and soft sage green was layered with natural wood, woven textures and warm metallic accents to create a contemporary interpretation of coastal design.
- A statement peony wallpaper was introduced on the ceiling, framed by coving to create a striking focal point without overwhelming the walls.
- Two sentimental furniture pieces were given a new lease of life with complementary sage-green paint and hand-painted floral knobs, providing practical concealed storage.
- Three distinct filming backdrops were incorporated, using statement artwork, travel photography and curated shelving to reflect the client's personality and business.
- Layered lighting, tactile materials and a dedicated coffee station were introduced to make the workspace feel as comfortable and welcoming as it was functional.

04 · Highlights
- 01A statement ceiling. The oversized peony wallpaper brings in the client's love of feminine florals in an unexpected way. Framing it on the ceiling keeps the coral walls beautifully simple, leaving flexibility to refresh the room through artwork and accessories in the future.
- 02A coastal influence, reimagined. A watercolour-print Roman blind echoes the movement and colours of the sea without relying on obvious nautical motifs. With natural wood, woven textures and the scalloped-edge rug, it brings depth and a relaxed, holiday-inspired feel.
- 03Considered details, personal meaning. The client's handmade table and bench were retained, and two much-loved pieces reimagined in soft sage green with delicate floral knobs, concealing storage, a coffee station and mini fridge.
- 04A workspace designed around its owner. Three filming backdrops offer flexibility for social media content: statement coastal artwork, picture shelves of cherished travel photographs, and a complementary triptych. A textured floor lamp adds warm, ambient light for working and filming.
05 · The outcome“A vibrant yet considered home office that brings the warmth and escapism of a coastal retreat into everyday working life. Bold floral pattern, soft sunset colours and tactile natural materials combine to create a space that feels feminine, uplifting and personal. A room designed not simply for working, but for feeling inspired.”
