01 · The brief
A main bedroom reimagined as a calm, grown-up sanctuary for a couple with two young children, set beside woodland. As working patterns shifted and more time was spent at home, the brief was to create a space that echoed the restorative quality of the landscape outside, using grounded colour and natural materials to bring a sense of quiet and ease.
Designed as an end-of-day retreat, the room needed to feel elevated and considered, but never cold. Softness was introduced through layered texture and pattern, balanced with organic forms and gentle lines. Sustainability and longevity guided the specification throughout, with finishes chosen to feel timeless, tactile, and liveable.
02 · The challenge
To bring the outdoors in in a way that felt refined rather than themed; creating a bedroom that was luxurious and calm, while still being practical, restorative, and family-proof.
Approach
- An atmospheric woodland mural wallpaper set the tone: immersive, calming, and softly layered.
- Design built through texture: linen bedding, embroidered detailing, velvet accents, and warm woodgrain, creating depth without visual noise.
- A palette of earthy neutrals and mossy greens was balanced with a muted terracotta accent to add warmth and gentle contrast.
- Brass and delicate glass finishes were introduced as subtle highlights, bringing a soft glow and an elevated feel, while curved silhouettes throughout helped the space feel cocooning and relaxed.
- FF&E was fully specified and as always, a sample-led approach was used to confirm tones, finishes, and textures worked together in real life, not just on screen.

04 · Highlights
- 01A landscape-led palette of mossy greens, bark browns, warm neutrals, and a grounded terracotta accent was drawn from the mural and surrounding woodland, creating a scheme that feels cohesive, calm, and naturally connected.
- 02Lighting was chosen to feel sculptural rather than showy. Wall-mounted bedside lights introduce a warm metallic note and keep surfaces clear for a more restful finish, while the chandelier adds a delicate dew-drop texture that lifts the room beautifully in the evening.
- 03Texture does the heavy lifting throughout. Linen, embroidery, and velvet bring softness and comfort, adding depth and warmth without visual noise, so the space feels finished and inviting without relying on clutter.
- 04Natural materials were specified with longevity in mind. Warm timber tones, soft metals, and considered finishes were chosen for durability and responsible sourcing, keeping the overall scheme timeless, elevated, and liveable.
05 · The outcome“A calm, cocooning bedroom that feels connected to the landscape outside, while still reading as an elevated adult space. Every detail was chosen to support rest and ease; a room with warmth, depth, and a quiet sense of luxury.”
